From helping a friend buy chocolates for his wife to feeling gratitude for a job well done, love was in the air at the mission in February.
To celebrate the month of love, we talked to several students and staff at JiHM to find out how they had both experienced and shared God’s love this month.
We hope their answers will stir you up to love and good works, while giving praise to God.
How did you experience God’s love this month?
“Not just for this month, but every month by the way He protects me on the dangerous route I travel to work.” – Marie Lyne, school nurse
“He protected me and God took care of all my family.” – Pastor Dieuvert
“God’s love is a marvelous thing, an extraordinary thing. During this month, God gave me health, he gave safety to my family in all our activities, we had food. There were many people sick in my house, and God healed them.” – Roger, director of operations
How did you experience love at the mission this month?
“Most of my coworkers knew my son needed an operation, and everybody showed the love they had for my family, from the director and the pastors to the lunch ladies and the maintenance guys. They lifted my spirits and prayed for me, and they helped me experience God’s love this month. Not just this month, but every day, because we’ve become like a family.” – Frisner, administrator
“I felt loved by the way our teacher always works with us. He always eats with us in the cafeteria, and gives us lots of advice.” – Daniela, 6th grader
“I experienced love at school in the unity that we’ve come to have among the kids in my class. We didn’t used to be this comfortable together, I was always alone. But now we are very attached.” – Renette, junior
“My experience of love at the mission this month was in the collaboration I have with my colleagues. We understand each other, and God’s love is mighty in this place.” – Pastor Dieuvert
How did you show God’s love to others?
“I show God’s love when I evangelize, share joy and happiness with others, and help others.” – Vitalène, kindergarten teacher
“I had a stomachache but I didn’t want to miss a day of school. My mom and I prayed and I said, ‘God, in your infinite love, heal me and I will sing to give you the glory.’ He healed me. That Sunday I went to sing at my church, and through the song God touched some people in the church. That’s how I felt and shared God’s love.” – Mickerlange, 10th grader
“For this month with Valentine’s Day, I heard someone complaining that he didn’t have anything to show his wife how much he loved her, so I felt I must take him to the market to buy chocolate and cream to give to his wife. I think that served him very well.” – Frisner, JiHM administrator
