Guidelines & Tips

Keep it simple. Share about universal topics, such as work and family, school, pets, hobbies, music, sports, and activities. Highlight the things you might have in common. Ask no more than two or three questions per letter.

Encourage your student’s faith. Share a favorite scripture verse and talk about your relationship with the Lord. Use this as an opportunity to encourage your student to grow in faith.

Include a photo of yourself and your family. Your student will treasure your picture. Please be sure everyone in the photo is dressed modestly.

Enter your sponsored student’s entire name. Many of the students have similar names—having the entire name helps our staff with letter distribution. Can’t find it? Write anyway and we will look it up.

Prefer to stick with handwriting and sending through the mail? Download the template with mailing instructions. Just be aware we are unsure when the next shipment of letters will arrive in country.
