On Sunday, May 24, a milestone years in the making became reality as Victory Bible Church officially opened its doors in Village Demier, Haiti.

The first year of ministry in Village Demier ended with a beautiful exclamation mark—the community’s first baptisms. Pastor Derson and Pastor Evald baptized six young adults—Djenie, Stanley, Dadeline, Romial, Roselaure, and Johnsley—who publicly declared their faith in Christ.

The gospel is transforming the small community of Village Demier—one family at a time.

When Pastor Derson travels to Village Demier from his home in Ouanaminthe, his journey is long and often difficult. It begins with a 20-minute walk—or a short moto ride when available—to the roadside station near his home. From there, it’s a 45-minute motorcycle ride to the town of Terrier-Rouge, followed by a 15-minute hike into the village itself.

Widowed for eight years and physically limited, 70-year-old Marielouise has shouldered the care of her young grandson alone in Village Demier for many years.
