On Saturday, Grace Emmanuel School held its second high school graduation ceremony. The 18 students who make up the GES Class of 2018 overcame many obstacles to achieve this major milestone. We are so proud of them! 

The average Haitian, age 25 years or older, has less than 5 years of schooling (USAID, 2017). Fednor Excellent, who will graduate from Grace Emmanuel School at the end of this month at age 25, is raising that average. 

Our group is visiting Iselande’s house, casually looking through her photo albums and chatting before we get started preparing chicken and rice for lunch. Among the neatly preserved photos of her teenage years, I see a photo of a young American woman. I ask Iselande about her.

The year 2010 was a meaningful year for senior Loctama Adolphe.
